AutoCAD 2014 drawing tabs and command line missing

Morning All,

The last three times I have started my ACAD 2014 the drawing tabs are gone. Any suggestions?

Also, my command line is missing and all I see when I hit my F2 is my previous entries except for the current entry. Any suggestions on this one?

Any help would be great!

Drawing tabs (file tabs) are controlled by entering FILETAB and FILETABCLOSE at the command line.

The command line is toggled on and off with the Ctrl+9 keyboard shortcut.

I"m not sure why they suddenly disappeared on you, but hopefully they'll stick around after getting them back on.

The command line controls for the command line visibility are COMMANDLINE and COMMANDLINECLOSE.

I would recommend manually saving your workspaces rather than saving them automatically because it's too easy to inadvertently save unwanted changes, as may have happened here.

Your command line may be off-screen.  If so, you should be able to restore it to it's original position in the CUI.  Select the workspace, then expand "Palettes" and select "Command Line" in the right panel, then edit it's properties in the lower right panel (Show = Yes / Orientation = Bottom)

Here's a demo -->  http://www.screencast.com/t/kvsIb70dSk

going into the CUI was the trick!

Filetab does not work for me

Ctl+9 works for me, but I think the command line is minimized and hidden.

When I pressed ctl+9 it says it is closing/opening it, however I can't find the command line.  Where could it be?

It could be the transparency is set to 10% opacity or something like that, which means it is there, but just barely visible.  If that is the case, it should toggle to opaque when you move the mouse cursor over it.  Can you post a screenshot of your AutoCAD when the command line has been toggled on?

Also note that the default look for the command line in 2014 (and 2013, I think) is a floating toolbar-style object, not the full-width command line with white background of older versions.  If you're able to find the command line, you can dock it to the top or bottom of your AutoCAD window to get the old style back.

Bayramalieren:

I suggest you start your own thread for your issue, which is completely different from this thread you've posted in.

To attempt to answer your question, though, I would try using the Audit and Recover commands on the drawing to see if that fixes your problem.
