AutoCAD 2013 takes 12 minutes to boot

Hello,

I have AutoCAD 2013 running on a Windows 7 machine. AutoCAD runs fine and handles all of the 3D files I can throw at it. The computer itself is a higher-end Dell and is about 4 years old. The problem is that is is very, very slow to boot up. I timed it today and it took 12 minutes. The only application I have installed is Smart Unfold. The more noteworthy events:

First run initializing took 4 minutes

accoremdg.dll took 2 minutes

acmgd.dll took 1.5 minutes

a generic "loading" took 2 minutes

my Smart Unfold app took 1 minute

The computer is running ESET NOD32 virus scanner.

Hello @justin_b_haas,

is your question about how to make your computer more performant? You can check the system requirements  for AutoCAD 2013 here. To be sure that the computer can run smoothly our products, you can also use the prerequisite checker

regards,

First step would be to unplug the network cable and disable WiFi (if any), and then try again.

Also note that you can't make anything meaningful out of those messages regarding "first run" or the "dll" files. The message could be made visible, then the process regarding that message could run, complete, and then some other process could be hanging. One that does not include a message.

Lastly, you might use Process Monitor to watch file/registry activity, that could help you find the bottleneck.

Here is an overview of how to do that: Tracking down why that application is slow

Uh, 12 minutes to startup AutoCAD is not caused by a PC that doesn't meet the hardware specifications. Any PC that slow with AutoCAD wouldn't even be able to load the O/S.

What is new on your old PC or your network or your web services or your connections about the same time this problem started?

Old software don't simply wake up one morning and decide to slow start. Dig a lot deeper and find out please.

I unplugged the network cable, and it doesn't have WiFi. It took even longer somehow at 15 minutes.

It didn't suddenly start doing it, it's been doing it for years. I usually start AutoCAD and walk away to get coffee or something.

Wow. I would have lost a bet on that. Try something. Open a DOS prompt. (Win key+R > CMD) - then at the C:\ prompt, type in systeminfo and press enter. When it gets done in a few seconds, scroll back up and look for a line that says "Original Install Date". This is when Windows was installed on your PC. What does it say?
