AutoCAD 2013 FILETAB command missing

Anonymous
Not applicable

There seem to be lots of different answers for this online, but I can't find anything that works for me.

I'm running 2013 and just got a new CPU.  When they reinstalled my programs (still running 2013), the file tabs that let me move between files disappeared.  I find this much better than using CTRL+TAB to swap between as that makes me cycle between files instead of going straight to the one I want.  When I type the command FILETAB, it says the command is unknown.

I tried reloading express tools, but not only were they already loaded, but other express tools like TXT2MTXT work just fine.  Help!  There seems to be discussion of a plugin (maybe 2013 does not offer FILETAB as a command) but I can't find a working link to any such plugin.

Hi @Anonymous,

Please take a look at this article. Perhaps your issue is that the ARX  is not loaded.

Hi,

>>>that link<<< shows 2 products that were used before AutoCAD got this feature implemented.

But I don't have a current working download link, so please understand the above link just as information about possible search criterias.

If you have a backup from your previous system, maybe you have your files to install them now?

Ugh, that didn't work either.  Everything in that to-do was done.

If I remember correctly, 2013 did not have the file tabs functionality (it was a new feature that was included in AutoCAD 2014).

That would make sense @Cadologist but the post says they were lost after a reinstall.

Understood, my post was to provide background that AutoCAD 2013 never came with File/Drawing Tabs (with the OOTB 'Out Of The Box' Program). I recall that there were 3rd party apps, etc. that offered file tabs functionality as an add-on to AutoCAD 2013 (Autodesk App Store) but the one I remember is no longer available, see link below.

I would assume? that the File/Drawing tabs you had on your prior install where provided by a third party app and not Autodesk, to reiterate that was a feature added in AutoCAD 2014. Additionally that would explain why they are missing in your reinstall of 2013 as well......

Wonder why that app (Drawing Tabs) was pulled from the App Store (maybe no longer relevant in current versions or because it's included in 2014+ AutoCAD installs?)...... Below is a link to the app I recall seeing in the past.

Hi,

>> I recall that there were 3rd party apps

That's why I linked to a thread with two 3rd party apps, AutoCAD 2013 had no filetabs built in.

I think you're right @Cadologist, but I must have had a third party app running previously as I was using 2013 and definitely had tabs.  Anyone have a link to a current fix?

AutoCAD 2013 does not have the functionality of file-tabs.
