Hi,

Take a look at the text styles used in the drawing, are there any unusual ones there which are being substituted?

Hi @Anonymous,

Are you seeing this error message with specific drawings or all drawings?  What is your OS ?

Have you tried using Recover on the file(s) before you open them?

Hi,

"There are a few ways to try to fix this. Open the text in the editor. Select all of the text (press Ctrl+A), right-click, click Remove Formatting, then pick one of the three options given: Remove Character Formatting, Remove Paragraph Formatting, or Remove All Formatting. Remove All may be what you need.

"This should clear everything out. If that doesn't work, select all of the text (while in the editor) and copy (Ctrl+C). In Windows, open Notebook (a simple text editor that strips all formatting from text) and paste (Ctrl+V) the text as a new text object."

I have also encountered this problem for the first time in 15 years of using ACAD.

The drawing will not open, it just spins and the comment "Please wait, formatting text" shows up in the bottom right of the program screen, with the loading bar.

It continually does this. I see there are suggestions about checking text, is there any strange text etc.

the file DID open and worked for sometime, i do not know how this became a problem.

Tried running recover on it, seems to go through most checks, then when it tries to open the file, the problem occurs again.

i have attached a screen shot

eventually the plan shows up (But i cannot do anything) and the formatting text loading down the bottom right is visible in this screen shot.

It will just do it occasionally, but i cannot do anything else....

Try this command _recover

Then save it to an older format (e.g. 2013 - assuming you have the most recent AuyoCAD version).

Reopen the drawing.

Are you still using 2012?
Is this plain AutoCAD, or a vertical version like MECH o C3D or...?

Did you fix the file yet as noted by others?
