Hi everyone....
I come to you for help after all the failed attempts at trying to get my bosses AutoCAD to properly function. This is a 64 bit machine running Windows 7. I've seen similar issues here in the forum and it seems clear there is no real solution at the moment. I decided to create this (albeit similar to others) post to indicate our specific situation and resolution attempts.
The issue:
When trying to open a file after AutoCAD startup, the application hangs and eventually has to be restarted. The issue appears to be arbitrary as he (my boss) hadn't made any hardware or software changes (including updates) prior to the problem. After a long talk with our service people, he decided to completely uninstall then reinstall AutoCAD. The problem was still there.
At that point he asked me for a little help. We have tried everything that Google has offered to us through a seemingly endless search for answers. At the advice of others, we have tried the uninstall and reinstall, renamed user application folders and registry keys (that appear to be recreated at startup), and even changed the Windows "Aero" theme.
We have a network license and all users run through the server, first. I have no such problem with my machine.
The band-aid:
A temporary fix that works per session is creating a new profile and making it current. It will even work if the profile is changed back to the original "unnamned profile" and deleting the newly created profile. But once the session is closed and AutoCAD reopned, the problem reinvents itself.
So...thereyago. Does anyone have any advice? Kicking and throwing out his machine is not an option...but thoroughly considered, heh.
Thank you.
