AutoCad 2010 crashes when numpad in properties is selected

I can click on an object and when I go to change a numerical value in the properties screen by clicking on the numpad icon to the right of that particular property the program freezes. Has happened numerous times and every time I need to use Task Manager to close CAD. Is there a fix, or a setting to remove the numpad from the properities screen?

Since 2010 is not new, what changed or is different this week that was not 6-years ago when the software was released?

Nothing has changed that I'm aware of. I've only been using this CAD for about a year, doing drawings and details now that our engineer is no longer with us. Only recently have I started using the numpad via the properties window, previously I would highlight the selection and use the keyboard to change values.

Assuming there is no known fix, is there a way to disbale the numpad in the properties windows?
