AutoCAD 2008

I have received a file Password protected. I do not like to work on Password protected file. It is a nuisance. Is there a way to work on the file without being password protected. If I save the file with a new name - will the new file still be password protected? I tried this and files are opening along with file that was Password protected. My guess is that drawing recognizes the computer and allows the file to open and not asking for password except for first time. I am not sure what happens to new file that I created "Save As". Is there a way to see whether the drawing is password protected?

Thanks.
