Good morning,
A collegue of mine is learning how to use AUTOCAD 2020 (trial version for the moment) and has always worked with AUTOCAD 2004.
He would like to know if it's possible to have the same options (see the 3 files in attach) in the new version of this software.
File 1. He doesn't have the dialog box "Edit Text" by clicking on a textzone. He thinks it's maybe like a maccro in his version of AUTACAD 2004. Does anybody has this dialog box in AUTOCAD 2020?
File 2. He doesn't have the "FinePrint pdfFactory" option. He thinks it's maybe because he is using the trial version. Can anybody tell me if it's the case?
File 3. He's using this kind of "option bar" (SNAP, GRID, ORTHO, ...) and told me that the "option bar" in AUTOCAD 2020 is a little bit different. He would like to know if it's possible to modify it in order to have the same options than in AUTOCAD 2004.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Best regards,
Julien Portmann

1. you can set the TEXTED variable to 1 instead of 2, it should work.
2. .... never saw that in 2004. There are good pdf printers in autocad now, they must be in the list.
3. Texts are over in the status bar, they only left icons. In case of missing any of them, just click on the "hamburger", the button that is in the lower corner, on the right. You can (must) choose the shortcuts you need and that are not visible yet.

Is he talking about TEXT or MTEXT?
Senseful or not: For MTEXT he can change SysVar MTEXTED to :LISPED
(Then he should never ask for other problems or things he can not find regarding MText 😉 )

"FinePrint option" has nothing to do with AutoCAD, it is(was?) an installed plot driver on 2004 PC.
Install "FinePrint" programm/driver on 2020 PC / if available for current OS // and you can use it in 2020 too.
But: He should try to use the Autodesk-PDF driver, Name: DWG TO PDF.pc3 and Multiple other who starts with "AutoCAD PDF ...pc3"

That's the STATUSBAR and what button is he missing?
And you can customize the content a bit, by using the menu icon in the lowest, rightest icon in program window..(three lines)
But: He should LEARN what the new things for and you can not change Icon to Text labels - sorry.
