Is it possible to set up auto save to save to the orignal file, not the temp location?

Quite often CAD crashes and when I try to recover the temp files I have no luck and have to just accept the loss of work 😞

Thanks!

Hi,

you can define your own position where to save the SV$ files, command _OPTIONS:

How do you try to recover the file? And which results do you get?

Is it simply not finding the file or do you get error messages?

Thanks, this is good to know but will this not effect where each different drawing saves or would I have to do this each time?

My drawings are spread out into different job folders so I cant have different drawings saving to one place only.

I wish it was an option for the original file to auto save!

Hi,

>> My drawings are spread out into different job folders so I cant have different drawings saving to one place only.

For that .Bak files are created ( ISAVEBACK = 1 ) in the same folder when the drawing is manually saved . i suggest to read and follow this AKN info that may help . >> Click <<   🙂

Hi,

You have to differentiate between the function of autosave (which means saving every x minutes your current dwg-file) and the backup files (which will always be created when you manually use the save command to save the current file, or when you close the file with saving).

The first type creates a file with extension .SV$ and this path can only be set in the options, and yes, it's the same path for all files you are working with, independent from the folder of the dwg-file.

The second type create a file with extension .BAK and this file is saved (by default) in the same folder as the dwg-file itself.
