Attributes inside blocks not updating

Hi everyone,

I have created attributes and put them into a block for the company's title block. However when I edit the value of an attribute, it only updates the value on that specific block and not to the same block in other sheets. It was working fine before when it was all text, updating the information in each sheet. Anyone knows why this is happening?

Attributes are specific to the block when you edit each one, only that block changes.

TEXT inside a block are static: you treat it like a line in a block, you change the line in one place it changes in all copies of the block you have in the DWG file.

Why did you change if you only wanted the latter behavior?

I see, so there is no way to use the attributes in the block and still update the values, correct? It is a request from my boss to add attributes to the title block to have that list that prompts each attribute value, rather than needing to go into the block and changing text by text.

Hi @Anonymous 

From the snapshot I can see that you have used multiple attributes with the same tag, which doesn't work well as the tag for each attribute should be different from another. You can have the same prompt for the different attribute tags. That's why you can see the attributes with the same tag are highlighted in RED color in the snapshot. Try using the attributes with different tags. If you have a block copied into a different sheet and you want to update the value of the attribute globally or whole of drawing then you need to use the command "GATTE"(Global ATTribute Editor) and then select the particular attribute for which you want the change the value globally and type in the value 🙂
