Assign Hatch Pattern to a layer

Can we assign a hatch pattern to a layer and then choose the hatch pattern to be "by layer" or custom pattern?

For example, if I have to hatch a pattern for all my walls in a floor plan, making a continuous/connected hatch is gonna be tedious, so I choose to make individual hatch patterns for individual walls, but if for any reason I choose to change the hatch pattern for the walls, I'd like to change it with a single click.

Sure select & filter is a good way for this, but if can choose the hatch to be "by layer" I can just simply change the pattern like I can change the colors, it'd decrease a lot of effort.

SELECTSIMILAR command will help.. and settings will guide how to select.

Command: SELECTSIMILAR
Select objects or [SEttings]:

Good Luck...

You can't give a Layer a default Hatch pattern, the way you can give it a linetype or color.  @imadHabash's screen-shot is to set it to put Hatching on a default Layer, but that's really the converse of what I think you're talking about.

But after doing your partial-area Hatches, you could GROUP them together, and selecting any of them would select all for purposes of changing the pattern, or Layer, etc.

With customziations (aka LISP or others), you can do that: have you mapped out which exact layer names get which exact hatch pattern and hatch settings yet?

It's not a core feature otherwise.

Thank you pendean, I thought this would be core feature at least in the Express tools. Thank you for letting me know that we can do it using LISP. I right now don't need a solution using Lisp. But thanks for the help.
