Anonymous blockname when i import a Step file

Hi,

I've got some step files to import in ACAD 2019. But when i import in AutoCAD, i've got anonymous blockname (such as ac$.......)

When i do the same operation with SolidWorks, i get same blocks tree but with clearly identify name (such as door, pump, pipeline assembly, etc...)

Does Autodesk product can completely read datas from Step files ? If not, it would be great to improve this point.

AutoCAD is not SOLIDWORKS, and vice versa.

That's a very helpful answer....

Step is an ISO standard. In my case, it seems some informations are read on SW but not on Acad 2019. That means the Step import option in Acad are not as complete as on SW.

But a friend of mine told me to make test with older version of AutoCAD (such as v2014. Mine is v2019).

I'll do it and give you a feedback asap.

Most of the stp files I work with do that until you explode the step even then it sometimes give different layer names never watch for each part it self. I think it is dependent with what software you export to stp.  Autocad is just like any other software some parts limited. But same time autodesk have other software like fusion 360 and inventor that might help with this

Well,

it seems linked to the STEP standard version (AP203, 214, etc.). And i haven't find any information about STEP version used by AutoCAD.

It may be a good idea to know which version of STEP used by Autodesk Product.

TY for your help, dudes !
