Annotative scales in Xrefed Drawings not updating

Hi, I've set up an Annotative dim style and assigned scales 1:1 / 1:2 / 1:5 / 1:10 so that i can set up some detail drawings and re-use the dims instead of adding multiple layers of dims. I've tested everything is working in Sheet 1 of 2. However when i Xref Sheet 1 into Sheet 2 the dim styles in sheet 2 of 2 don't update the scale depending on the active scale like they do in sheet 1 of 1.

Is there a way to resolve this or should is the only way to freeze the layer and copy the dims live into the active drawing?

Tried looking on the forums for something similar but couldn't find a solution.

Thanks

Has your method ever worked? XREFs can do a lot, but that's not one of them AFAIK.

Mr. Pendean is right. XREFs cannot control Annotative assignments.

Be a great feature, but not available at this time.

But, your View Ports can. XREF what you need, make a View Port to the scale you need and add the required Annotative Tag Callout and it will show the scale you set for the View Port.

Hope this helps!

You need to have all the same annotative scales in both drawings and named exactly the same (1:5 in the original won't work in if the xrefed file if it's 1 : 5  with spaces or any other variation). In the original file you also need to make sure all annotative scales are applied to all the dimensions, text, etc.  Also select your viewport and on the properties palette make sure the annotative scale is set to the correct scale you are expecting.

How about using FIELDS for your View Ports?

I attached a DWG for you to view and test. I have (3) VPs with different scales. I made the SCALE the Fields along with my Tag Callout that reads the TAB Name.

Small steps to take with each VP but it works great.

Once you make one, copy it to the next VP and double click the FIELD then what VP you need.

Pick Standard Scale once again and OK. Done.

Hope this helps.
