Let the user define areas of the mspace with Boxes that have different mspace scales.

So a person could have different areas for their details at say a 1"=1' scale, while another area set for their profiles at a 1"=40' scale.  While the areas outside of these boxes would still be at the current global mspace scale.

Hi @Anonymous

I love this idea - I don't know that it would necessarily have to have "areas" or "boxes" but this would be SO handy for users that have to set up details and lots of different scales in a drawing. i don't know about you but I use the multiple grid setup in modelspace to reflect a detail's location and scale in paperspace. It works but sure could be improved.

Thank you again for suggestion how we can improve the product.

Q: is there a challenge with doing the same in paperspace? Are you aware of the VPMIN and VPMAX commands that come in handy for truly draft inside viewports in paperspace layouts without the hassle of staying in paperpsace?

That is EXACTLY what paperspace is for.  Why do the same thing in modelspace when the feature is already available in PS??

Actually, paper space came out way before annotative scaling but it does allow you to print multiple scales.

Working through viewports does exactly what is desired.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

Issues I have run into is that while you're in MSPACE working on your design, you'll have your plan view and profile views in an area that your'e jumping back and forth working on and then you may have your cross sections in another area.   Now your plan & profiles maybe best viewed at say 1=40, while to too see your cross selections they were inserted at say a 1=10 scale.    So either one area will look proper while the other won't.

Detail dwgs could be close to the same.

That is precisely why you don't work in MSPACE, you work in PSPACE and change the zoom scale factor in the viewports to present the view as needed.

EVERYTHING in MSPACE is real units, nothing is scaled in MSPACE.  In PSPACE change the zoom scale factor of the viewport by selecting a scale from the pull-down in the properties window and off you go.
