annotative dimensioning not working

Hi guys,

New to autocad and created a simple drawing using mm units and tried adding some dimensions using annotative styling.
The writing however is still very small compared to the drawing. Under the annotate tab I changed, text, dimensions and leaders style to annotative so not sure what else to do now.

In the drawing I added the dimension to the top line, help appreciated!

Hi,

Welcome to this forum.

The dimension you created is currently having only one annotation scale assigned to it.

Either you have to add additional scales to the current dimension by using OBJECTSCALE or turn on ANNOAUTOSCALE.

Click this button to turn on/off ANNOAUTOSCALE.

If ANNOAUTOSCALE is ON, when you change the annotation scales the new scales will added to the annotation objects.

As noted above, you have to assign an annotative scale that's appropriated for the size of the object relative to the size of the output/plot.  The example below uses Layouts to help determine what scale will be appropriate, and also how to add a scale, but typically you'll probably want to determine and set the annotative scale before adding dimensions to avoid the need to change/add them afterward.
