Anchor multileader text

I have a mleader, leader arrowHead first, mtext, left justified with the arrow off the Right side (AutoCAD 2015). Every time I edit the text so it is longer than the current mtext box (or shrink the mtext box) the leader landing location remains fixed and the text moves.

Is there a way to prevent the Mtext moving when editing and instead move the leader landing location? This is driving me nuts because all my straight lines of notes keep getting borked up resulting in wasted time lining them up again.

Hi James,

Welcome to the forums. I think I have a pretty good idea of what is happening, can you take a quick screenshot of the multileaders you are working on and post it on here so I can make sure I am on the same page as you are. Will help me get you the right answer asap.

Thanks.

To direct you towards the right direction:

When associative dimensioning is turned on ( DIMASSOC), the leader arrowhead can be associated with a location on an object using an object snap. If the object is relocated, the arrowhead remains attached to the object and the leader line stretches, but the multiline text remains in place.

In this case I resize the text and unlike a regular mtext it dosn't stay put but the leader landing unintuitively dose. DIMASSOC is set to 1

You're suppose to do it with it being set as 0 not 1

Hi James,

Thanks for the photo, I was looking through the multileader settings and did not find anything that will hold the text but make the leader adjust. Instead there is a tool Autodesk built that will autojustify all the text from multileaders to be aligned and make the landings for the leaders slide to make the text line up. The tool is in the ribbon just to the right of the multileader draw tool and is called MLEADERALIGN after you make the edits to adjust your text widths on your mleaders you select this tool, then you select all the mleaders you want and press enter, then you select the mleader you want all the other mleaders to autoalign to and they will align the text on the left and slide the leaders to make it work.

Give it a try, this is how I do all my mleaders to make them look nice and have the text aligned while sliding the leader lines automatically.

Thanks that's helpfull. Still would rather not have to re-align the text but half a setp to a solution is still nice

That's the only thing that can keep it connected to can object except for JOIN command, a frozen layer, text annotative, or GROUP command.
