Allow Auto-Resize or Manual Adjustment of Dropdown List Widths (Text Styles, Dimension Styles, etc.)

In AutoCAD, dropdown lists for selecting styles (e.g., text styles, dimension styles) currently have a fixed width. When style names are too long, they get cut off, making it difficult to identify and select the correct one—especially when multiple styles have similar prefixes.

I propose that these dropdowns should either:

  • Automatically adjust their width to fit the longest item, or

  • Be manually resizable via the user interface or through CUI settings.

Benefits:

  • Enhances user experience.

  • Reduces selection errors.

  • Particularly useful in collaborative projects or environments with detailed naming conventions.

Thank you for considering this improvement!

@ben.saa You can manually adjust them all day long right now and for many of earlier versions: perhaps you mean something else? or just friendlier to use? Show us.

And if you are feeling adventuruous, there are other "hacks" you can do to get that by default too.

BUT.. if you want Autodesk to "fix it" for example the automation (great idea), this is the wrong venue for it, your post here is just going nowhere.

Instead, you and a few 100/1000 other subscribers have to ask for it in the same level of detail and clarity constantly (none of this 'once and done' thing) over and over again over here at a different site, here is the link:

@ben.saa Ah, you're stuck using the old toolbars with the old settings.

QAT's Layer pulldown auto-resizes, as do the Ribbon's many other PROPERTIES pulldowns that you can move to the QAT (which you can turn on and make available 100% of the time, it's like a toolbar too). Figure out what's important in your priorities, Autodesk isn't going back to toolbars to "fix" anytime as far as I can tell after 25+years of the Ribbon.
