Adding dimensions to imported 3D models

Hi all. I am trying to add dimensions to an imported 3D model (from cinema 4D) but the dimensions are all ground level on all axis. Is there a way this can be solved? Any help will be greatly  appreciated. Regards

Welcome to the AutoCAD forum.

On my side the following steps work when a dimension is created on Z=0 from the top view.

1. Change the view via viewcube to a different 3D angle

2. Enter MOVE command

3. Select the dimension object

4. Lift the dimension object to a certain z value.

Hi,

try first to  UCS command >> Face ( F ) , after selecting your needed face on your model to align your ucs to the face that you want to dim. make your dimension now .

@imadHabash Hello again Imad, thanks for your response yesterday. Much appreciated. I don't use AutoCAD that often so I'm a bit clueless 🙂 

I can't see where you are clicking on the drop down in the GIF you so kindly showed.
