ACAD 2019 trying to save a DWG as a DXF

Good day everyone,

I'm trying to save a DWG to a DXF, but I'm not familiar with DXFs, I figured I would be able to just open my DWG and select Save As, then change the file type to DXF on the pull down options, but when I do this, it saves as a DWL file which doesn't help me at all.  Is it as simple as I thought it should be, or am I missing something?

Thanks,

MarkF

Have you tried the DXFOUT command?

DWL is a text file that AutoCAD uses for WHOHAS variable, you know, when you see that ".. someone has your file open...".

Looks like you may have just lost where the DXF was actually created, or your commandline above the few lines you have visible reported a problem that you may have missed that explained more about what is going on https://help.autodesk.com/view/ACD/2019/ENU/?guid=GUID-5EA0F1DC-EA92-4ADB-9BDF-C352DF3AFC5F#:~:text=...
