ACAD 2017 - 2D Polyline Error

Hi,

I recently updated my ACAD from 2016 to 2017. However, when plotting the drawing there are always additional dots all over the page. I screened all objects in the drawing and it turns out only 2D polylines come with those dots. 

Any idea how to get rid of those dots?

Hi,

I can reproduce the issue and with a few tests I have not got it solved (copy paste into a new drawing, scale it by 0.001 to have smaller coordinates), it could be important for others to know that the preview does not show the issue, it's only visible in plot's (I tried the preset XPS one as well as the "DWG to PDF.pc3").

What I see opening your drawing:

• I get the message that this file was not created by an Autodesk product, so I'm wondering if this DWG was created by AutoCAD 2016 or another application. That might be really necessary to know which program created that objects, ... or, in case that polylines were created by AutoCAD applications/plugins let us know which app that was.
• also running command _AUDIT shows > 1000 errors in the drawings database, so something happened to that drawing.
• zooming to some of the objects (having HW-acceleration as well as "High quality geometry..." active shows a different linetype on the screen than the entity has assigned (assigned is "Continuous", but on the display it looks like dash-dot or some overlapping lines), depending on zoom-depth ... also not a usual case.

Hi,

I think that you have to treat well with this file because as attached images your CAD file is coming and made by another outside software.so the problem exist from the source and the way of exporting this file. i try to take your 2D polylines to another clean drawing BUT still these weird dots appeared.

I tried the following workflow and this is my result. I have no idea what the underlying cause was and how to prevent it in the future though.

I did a quick ctrl+p from model space to quickly verify

1. Convert > Polylines > All (this didn't convert any of the 2D polylines to LW polylines?)
2. Audit > yes (10k+ errors fixed, 0 objects removed)

3. Select All > Explode (48 items not exploded)
4. Audit > yes (no more errors found)
5. Select All > Overkill (this isn't necessary at all)

Thank you guys for all the effort.

The file comes from the OEM and is too old to trace its origin. Perhaps it is created by another application. But the point is I do not have such problem in ACAD 2010 and ACAD 2016. It is quite frustrating that the only solution I can think of is to switch back to ACAD 2016.

Hi @cad,

This thread was just auto-escalated and came to my attention.

When I opened your (non-AutoCAD) drawing I first ran AUDIT and it found 10245 errors

Next I ran  -Purge>Regapps and it removed 5 applications.

Lastly I ran -EXPORTOAUTOCAD

Now, when I plot the drawing I do not see any extra entities.
