After pressing F8 (Ortho), I start to make a selection acad 2016 freezes up. To continue I have to hit control alt del, then cancel. screen unfreezes. It does create a problem working. Is there a fix for this.

Hi and Welcome to AutoCAD Forum,

i suggest to change TEMPOVERRIDES value.

Command: TEMPOVERRIDES
Enter new value for TEMPOVERRIDES <1>:

That's not it.

Mine does the same thing.  When in the middle of a command such as copy or move, if you hit F8 for 'ortho on' or 'ortho off' the command freezes and autocad locks up.

I believe mine just started doing it since my computer downloaded Windows 10 Creators Update.  It worked perfectly fine prior to that.

Autodesk desperately needs and update or service pack to fix what microsoft changed with their latest update.

This started recently, I'm thinking it was after windows 10 update.

Yes, I believe it was after the Win 10 Creators Update.  My computer just got that update last week and then F8 immediately quit working.

Changing TEMPOVERRIDES setting to 0 (zero) is the temp fix popular with all users with this issue if the update for 2016 as described here does not help https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-forum/release-notification-autocad-2016-0-10/m-p/7050307#M877...

Yep, that update fixed it for me.  Funny thing was, my AutoDesk Desktop app said I was completely up to date.  I had to go out on the internet and manually find that 2016.0.10 update and install it, and then that fixed it.

AutoDesk Desktop app is a piece of junk bloatware: remove it from your system, it's about the dumbest software on the planet.
