A couple of best practice questions please

Hi all,

I'm wondering if I could get some two pronged advice please?

1. We do fire/EVC/ACS ect drawings so we have blocks for detection/access control ect - what I am looking for is a way for blocks to appear at a decent size even if building is at a higher/lower scale?  One idea was to have the building in MS but then put the blocks on Paperspace so they are the correct scale for what you want to see.

2. I plan to utilise sheet sets as we have multiple deciplines within one building and would like to easily manage each discipline without creating tonnes of files. How do you efficiently track changes within a sheet set IE if one device has changed you want to a new layout with the old device showing on the old layout and the new on the new layout so you can tell what revision this was changed on and what was changed. This relates to my previous question because you could do this easily if you were marking up only in paperspace - but is this best practice?

Many thanks!

Dani

For an answer to your Q1 you could consider implementing Annotative Blocks. This way regardless of what scale the vport is set as the size of the blocks will always be the same when inserted into model space.

Here's a couple of video tutorials of the advantages of implementing Annotative Blocks:

Most of the Civil 3D projects I worked on have multiple layouts with viewports of identical areas each annotated in Paper Space for different reasons. Most efficient way to make sure annotation only shows up on one sheet.
