3DCLIP COMMAND

Anonymous
Not applicable

THE 3DCLIP BOX IS 90 DEGREES OUT FROM THE VIEW PORT!

I'M TRYING TO CLIP A PROFILE VIEW IN THE VIEW PORT BUT THE DIALOG BOX SHOWS THE PLAN VIEW!

HOW DO I SET THE VIEWS SO THEY ARE IN SYNC?

HI @Anonymous,

Try setting your UCS to World and see if that helps. The 3D clip window  will show the model in the Currrent UCS.

Please select the Accept as Solution button if my post solves your issue or answers your question.

Switched to WCS and No-Go.
Switched back to UCS to see if it would make a difference and back again.
No-Go.

Hi @Anonymous,

Can you share your file? If so, please make an indication of where you want to 3dClip.

Just happened upon this and it appears you haven't rec'd an answer, so ....

3DCLIP command provides a clip in the orientation of the view that was active when entering the command.  So if you start the 3DCLIP function in a plan view, the clip window will show an elevation of you model, allowing you to create a slice of the PLAN view.  If you want a slice display through an elevation looking at a profile, start in a view looking in the direction you want to see the view-slice, the 3DCLIP window will display a plan and allow you to move the front and back clipping planes to provide the "profile" slice you wish to see.

Try DVP.lsp here.  check the video at the end.

Pick two point in plan, first is eye point second is view direction, then pick a viewport for the "view slice".
