3D modeling and rendering from a 2D AutoCad drawing

Hallo everyone,

So i got a question, i want to know what is the best way to make a 3D model from an existing 2D Autocad Drawing.

I cannot seem to choose between Revit, 3ds Max or sketchup. Now i know sketchup is not an autodesk program but that's the only 3D modeling program that i can work with.

I want to render the 3D model later using V-ray so i can make a High quality presentation. I've tried experiencing with all of the 3 programs and they all seem to work. But i wanna know what's the easiest way to convert my 2D drawing to 3D models and then render them with V-ray.

Please share your experience and tell me how you do it.

Note: in the attachments are results that i hope to be able to create someday

Hopefully i was clear enough, thanks in advance

HI @Anonymous,

I am unsure why you mention going from 2D to 3D for your rendering project as two of the applications you list are designed to really create in 3D from the beginning: Revit and SketchUP.  3DS Max is probably the most capable of all the applications you mention and can work with Revit and AutoCAD geometry natively. It can also import Sketchup files but I don't know personally how well that works.

Of course geometry in AutoCAD can also be rendered and Revit can do an OK job but if you are really looking for photo-realistic rendering, Max is likely the best of the three.
