2024 Start tab thumbnails very small

For some reason, the thumbnail previews on my start tab in 2024 are very small compared to how they have always been in the past. I actually see 12 in one row of the start tab, whereas I only used to see 7 (same monitor and resolution). Is anyone else seeing this? And is there a setting for it? I'm finding it on both a Win 10 and a Win 11 boot.

Both 2023 and 2024 are set to 3 (512 x 512). So it doesn't look like that's it.

Have you tried changing it to see if there is any effect?

I don't have 2024 installed (yet), so I can't help you any further, other than to suggest that if that setting doesn't actually make any difference on the Start tab, then there must be a setting somewhere on the Start tab.

I did try it, but it didn't make a difference. Not sure what that setting affects.

It's one of the changes introduced with this new one, they squeezed more content onto that one page so something had to give....

May I ask, why do you need that much more information to be visible in that thumbnail?

Yup. Saw that before, and it confirmed that they are smaller. But I was hoping there may be a setting to make them the same size as 2023. As far as why I want them bigger, it's because I find them easier to see. The "search" area that you pointed to has nothing to do with it because they extend to under the search. I can only assume it is because you can fit more on the same screen. I can fit 36 now if I wanted, but I'd be happy with fewer and a larger image. Was just hoping someone may know how to change the size.

I don't have 2024 installed, so this is just a flat-out guess, but if you reduce your number of recently-used files in OPTIONS, does that affect it?  OPTIONS > Open and Save tab > File Open section > set "Number of recently-used files" and "Application Menu" to 5.  If it doesn't work with 5, then it won't work with any number, I'd assume.

If someone was smart, they'd say that someone that limits their recently-used files there wouldn't need the extra number on the start page, but I'd bet $100 no one thought of that.

I tried 5, and I tried 36 (3 rows of 12), and they all show up the same size. Looks like it's just a design change for whatever reason.
