2018 upgrade trouble getting started

Hi All,

I recently upgraded to 2018 from 2010. Running windows 8 64 bit.

I can not get any of my Osnaps to work. I have tried turning them all on, all off, tried f3 and f11 and even messed with polar tracking. No luck.

The only place I can get a snap to is the 0,0 position and the far right of my drawing along the X axis.

What wonderful upgrade has caused this? Any work around? I reallllly need my snaps!!

HELP! Dead line is looming and I have no time for these issues 😞

Make sure in the OPTIONS > Drafting Tab the AutoSnap Settings boxes are checked for Marker, Magnet, etc

Hi,

I suggest to reset AutoCAD to default settings. >> Click <<

Sadly, none of the above worked. What to try next?

would it be possible for you to record a screencast of what you are seeing, it might make it easier to troubleshoot, as this is not something that I can reproduce on my out of the box setup (no customizations added)

what is your OSMODE set to?

Is this a problem in ALL files, or just this one?

If all files, then Reset R2018 like this then retry it: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to...

Hi @Anonymous,

When you did your upgrade, did you also perform a Migrate?

Please try creating a new user account with administrator permissions and log on with it. Then, without any customization or migration, please open AutoCAD and see if the Osnaps still fail to function properly.

If they do work then there is either some corruption with your normal profile or with some customization or possibly with migration.

If they still don't work, then perhaps a Repair from the Windows Program Control Panel followed by a Reset Settings to Default will correct this problem.

What a miserable thing to do. I was working on a new drawing so it was nothing to do with importing. I did create a new drawing and everything works just like it is supposed to.

Why did my initial base drawing fail?

I can easily recreate the drawing/s, but I would have saved my self a week of head scratching or better had I known.

Thanks so much for the help!

Hi @Anonymous,

Is it possible to attach one of the older files that is not behaving in 2018?

In the mean time, can you copy the contents of the older file into a new 2018 file and get the OSNAPS to work properly?

I am not importing old files. I am taking 2018 for a test drive. I am creating a simple drawing for a client only on 2018 to see if I think it is worth the cost.

Thanks for the help.
