10,000 Hatch Boundaries selected??

I have been trying to create an image of a book and suddenly the hatch command stops working. The egg timer comes up and an hour later it is still on. Now I understand the smaller the number the bigger the image (the further apart the lines are in the hatch), correct? Or is it the other way around?

Also, I have been trying to use a straight colour, which does not work either!

Did you manually select boundaries and you selected that many?

Which "number" are you referring to?  If it's either the Hatch pattern scale, or under the User-specified pattern the line spacing, then it's the other way around -- the smaller the number, the closer the lines, and therefore the greater the density.  But the message is not about the density of the pattern it's trying to draw, but about the boundary-defining objects [and it doesn't say 10,000, but 100,000!].  Can you post a drawing file with only the content relevant to what you want to Hatch?

And by "straight colour" do you mean the SOLID pattern?  Of course, there's no scale involved with that, so the scale should be irrelevant [but again, not related to that message, anyway].

Did you restart your PC yet to see if that will go away?

Otherwise... share that DWG file the content that defines the area here so we all can try it in your file as well, we might spot something you missed.
