0 objects joined, objects discarded from operation

Hello everyone,

Can someone please help me join the lines for the gear section shown below?

I've tried EXPLODE and JOIN, BOUNDARY, FLATTEN, but none of those commands seem to work for me.

I'd greatly appreciate any help anyone can be.

Endpoints were connected, but still would not join... I had to select all lines, then explode. Found out two polylines were above eachother on a segment. After deleting the double, then only join worked. I wish Autocad could have told me, instead of just 'x objects discarded from the operation'....

Same as car diagnostic tools, tell me my fuel injectors are bad instead of 20 codes.

Because there are other problems that you have to find out, not just one.
