ttf font appears bold instead of regular

Hi Team.

I consistently use Open Sans as my Font type. Somehow it has dropped out of my CAD.

I have removed all Open Sans TTFs from the folder. Regular/Italic/Bold/Bold italic. Restart the Mac. Drop TTFs back in folder. Restart Mac. Then whenever I open autoCAD everything that is meant to be regular comes up Bold in model space even when its properties show it as regular.

When I type styles to check my font the previews show

regular as bold.

Italic as bold italic. 

Bold italic as bold 

and bold is correct as bold.

Any help would be great thanks!!

I see you are using 2018 version of AutoCAD.
I tested Open Sans TTFs on my side in 2018 version and everything looks fine.

So the problem on your side could be in Open Sans fonts you installed on your Mac.

Can you test fonts in the attachment?

Also, check the Z-axis ordinate.  Non-zero values (may still appear as "0" due to display precision) tend to "puff up" TTF text.  Try changing the Z-axis ordinate of the text to a non-zero number such as 1.0, then back to 0.0.

Thanks for you help so far.

I dropped your attached TTFs into my Fonts/TTF folder. In CAD I typed in the Style command and it still shows the regular as bold in the preview window, and in model space.

Please verify that you removed all Open Sans font instances from Fonts folder (in both - Home and System Library folders) as well as from Fonts -> TTF folder inside AutoCAD application folder.

After installing fonts I attached to your Home Library -> Fonts folder you should see four Open Sans instances in "Text Style" window:

And "Open Sans" font should behave correctly as you see on the screenshot form my system.

OpenSans-Bold.ttf

OpenSans-BoldItalic.ttf

OpenSans-Italic.ttf

OpenSans-Regular.ttf

will give you "Open Sans"

OpenSansExtraBold-Italic.ttf

OpenSansExtraBold-Regular.ttf

will give you "Open Sans ExtraBold"

OpenSansLight-Italic.ttf

OpenSansLight-Regular.ttf

will give you "Open Sans Light"

OpenSansSemiBold-Italic.ttf

OpenSansSemiBold-Regular.ttf

will give you "Open Sans SemiBold"

In Font Book you should see:

You may also need to restart your Mac.

Hi team. Could I ask you to help me with solving the same problem, please? I use Zirkel Regular and Zirkel Bold on MacBook. Both fonts are visible in the text styles but always appear as bold then... I tried all the solutions mentioned above but nothing works. Would you know what to do? Thank you for your advice!

Do you use commercial Zirkel font from >>>>this<<<< page?

If yes, then I cannot test the problem you have, because i don't have this font on hand.

Yes, I have the same issue with this font on my side.
As soon as I add both font files - regular and bold - to my Fonts folder, both fonts shows as bold in AutoCAD for Mac.
But if I add only "zirkel regular.ttf" font, it shows as regular in AutoCAD.
Looks like there is something wrong in font files....

Try attached fonts.

Don't forget to remove all instances of Zirkel font in Font book app before installing new.

Miroslav,
The problem was in Style Linking inside Bold variation of the font.
The Bold style was not linked to the Regular.

I was able to repair this problem with Glyphs app.

Please specify AutoCAD version you have and macOS version installed on your Mac.
