Trying to understand STB - some plot styles don't work

Hello,

AutoCAD LT for Mac on Sierra (latest as of Feb 21, 2017).

I have set up my templates using STBs. I like the STB set up. However, I am having problems with some line types and how they display in paper space and plot.

I define the layer with a line type by layer. I pick a line type for that layer. Then, for plotting I use an STB file that I set up. I assign that layer one of the defined STB plot styles. Most work. However, some layer/line type/stb plot styles don't 'sync'. For example I set up a layer called A-ANNO-SH50. Line type is set to Hidden. Assigned STB style I assigned to this layer is set up as a 50% screen with a dashed line. The paperspace view and resulting PDF print only render this line type as a solid line. I thought the STB file over rides model space line types?

Sorry - this is about as technical as I can get.

Thanks.

Hi Grant,

If you can see dashed lines correctly in Model space and cannot see them as dashed in viewport in the Layout, than try to set PSLTSCALE system variable to 0 (zero).

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad-lt-for-mac/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/201...

Than use REGENALL command to check the results.

Hi and thanks. The PS was set to (1). I changed it to (0) with no change after the REA.

I should have noted that one of the lines in model space is a polyline and I gave it a width of 75mm. It shows up nicely in model space, but appears as solid in Paperspace. viewport scale matches the model space (1:75). I JUST noticed that if I take the poly line width away i.e. set to 0 then the line appears fine in paper space......? I need that width control. Hmmmm.

Can you attach your problem drawing here along with STB file?

Hello and thanks again. I hope that by packaging the file for export you will receive the STB file as well. I appreciate it. I'm sure I just forgot to toggle one small selection but I can't figure it out. Grant

For what its worth, we never assign linetypes through the plot style - only line weight (and occasionally color).  Too many different settings trying to battle it out, and the user trying to figure out what settings to use.  If the object is going to be dashed/hidden/center/etc. it gets assigned to the layer only.

@dgorsman thanks for the tip. I think that cleaned everything up along with the correct PSLTSCALE setting per Maxim above. Thanks. Whew.

@maxim_k thanks for the help. PSLTSCALE and the correct line type in the sub table have been revised and all looks good now. Thanks!! G
