Set field/attribute value

So, I'm trying to use fields in my drawing title blocks...

I have added a reference to "Author" in the text, and it previews as "----"

How do I set the definition of "Author" to my name, or set the definition of other fields like "Subject" and so forth?

I should add that my internet searching indicates that the "DWGPROPS" command was used for this at one time, but that command is not recognized by AutoCad Mac 2014.

Hi,

I'm afraid it I'd impossible in AutoCAD for Mac, although CorelCAD can do this, because DWGPROPS command avaliable in it.
Maybe there are some ways to accomplish this via AutoLISP, and I know that it is possible with Visual LISP functions on PC. But again - Visual LISP is not a feature of AutoCAD for Mac 😞
If you will set DWGPROPS on PC (or in CorelCAD for Mac) you will be able to use Author field in AutoCAD for Mac, but the value will be "read-only".
The workaround I can suggest:
If you are using Projects (Sheet Sets) in AutoCAD for Mac you can define Custom Project or Layout properties for the Project and than use Field values from the Project section.

And another addition: prior to AutoCAD 2004 it was possible to set DWGPROPS via plain AutoLISP by modifying DWGPROPS dictionary table in the drawing database, but since 2004 version DWGPROPS are stored in another place. And you can access them only with Visual LISP...

Thanks for your help.

I gotta say I'm getting pretty tired of hearing "not in the Mac version" about so many different things.

And I'm kinda fed up about regarding the differences in the UI between the two platforms.  I keep hearing something about the Mac version supposedly being more "Mac-like" but that's really a 1993 argument, not a 2015 one.  There's almost nothing about the Windows version UI that would really be out of place on Mac, and the inconsistency between platforms is a huge problem, especially when people are searching for answers to things online, and all the results talk about the Windows version.

Anyway, that's not your problem.  Thanks again for your help.
