What do you expect after "inserting AutoCAD drawing to excel"? What do you want to achieve?

One way to add an AutoCAD drawing  into Excel is the following:

  1.  In AutoCAD set the visualstyle  to 2D wireframe.
  2. If you are copying 3D geometry and you want hidden lines removed then enter the dispsilh command and set it to 1 and then give the hide command. If you are just working with 2D geometry skip this step.
  3. Select the geometry you want to transfer.
  4. Copy the selected geometry to the clipboard (with Windows this is with Ctrl-C, I do not know the Mac process for this).
  5. In Excel do a Paste Special and choose the Picture (Enhanced Metafile) option.
  6. You can move and scale the drawing as needed.

What options do you see when you do the Paste Special?

The problem is most likely a Mac implementation limitation.

Hi Uddhav,

On Mac you cannot use copy - paste method to insert drawing data from AutoCAD to Excel, because this is OS specific functionality (AutoCAD for Mac and macOS cannot convert DWG data format to one of vector formats that Excel can read).
The only one way on Mac is to export drawing to PDF file from AutoCAD and then insert resulting PDF to Excel. Of course, you will not be able to edit inserted drawing by double-clicking on it as you can do on Windows side if you are using OLE technology.

Thanks for the information! I wasted my one whole day searching for the possible solution. It works smooth with Windows, I tried it.
