No DWG Format

Hi, I'm new to AutoCAD and have just uploaded the student AutoCAD Mac version. I've gone through and had a little bit of a tour and noticed that when I try bringing over my drawings from class it wouldn't allow me because its in DWG format, and I noticed that everything is in DWT. Have I missed something or maybe I didn't upload the program correctly. I was advised by my CAD tutor to steer clear from AutoCAD Mac because of its complications, but unfortunately its the only computer I have to work on at home. Please help someone.

Hi @20038006 ,

AutoCAD for Mac can open and save drawings in a native DWG format just like AutoCAD for Windows.

DWT format is also used in AutoCAD (both for Mac and PC) to save and open Drawing Templates.

How are you trying to open DWG files brought from class?

To open DWG (native) document in AutoCAD for Mac I'd suggest you tom launch AutoCAD and use Open from File menu, or Open button from Start tab (window).

With AutoCAD running on your Mac enter command Open then at the bottom of the dialog make sure File Fornat selected is Drawing (*.dwg) and not (*.dwt)
