Ok so I recently got AutoCad 2015 and installed it on a brand new top of the line Mac.'
I can not describe in words the frustration. God forbid I move a few objects or try and "mirror" anything. I have had to do a "force quit" countless times everyday because this CAD cannot handle the simplest function w/o crashing.
CAD wants to know what triggers the freezes?
Well to start...if you grab the grips on a line and try and move the end of the line...forget it. Just check your email while you wait for CAD to complete the action.
If you try and move something you are in for a very long wait.
Don't even think about doing more than one drawing in a file. Gone are the days that you could have an entire set of documents in one file.
No, now you need a separate file for a single section or you will want to pull tour eyeballs out.
Im sure it has to do with the Info Center which AutoCad has made impossible to disable on a Mac. I tried turning off my WiFi in the hopes that it would stop pinging AutoDesk and pay attention to the drawing rather than trying to send CAD info but things got even worse which suggests to me the issues definitely have something to do with internet...as in CAD has embedded a function to allow them to constantly collect data from your drawings w/o any regard to how much it would slow down the process.
CAD USED to work. It used to work well. Now it is an absolute joke.
I have never been motivated to learn any of the other competing software because CAD was so solid, but now I am feeling motivated.
In fact CAD makes hand drawing a much more viable option.
