New Hatch - Can't find file

Hi,

A client of mine uses Autocad LT 2014 for Mac and downloaded some new hatches from this location: http://www.bibliocad.com/search?s_qpage=1&s_qtext=hatch&s_qver=sall&s_qmode=sor

They are all .PAT files.

At first when she loaded them in they were working, however after reconnecting to the onsite NAS, she is now getting error messages from Autocad saying that Autocad can't find the .PAT files even though they are still in the same location as they were previously while they were working.

She used the Add Patterns inside the Hatch Library to add these .PAT files in.

When she tries to re-add these .PAT files in, the gets a non-descriptive error message.

At this stage we'd be happy if we could just completely remove the new Hatch files and not worry about them. If we can't fix this, we'll have to reinstall Autocad and see if that works.

Any ideas?

Hi,

When you add Hatch pattern in AutoCAD for Mac using "Add Patterns" form Hatch library palette, AutoCAD adds symbolic link to the pattern file inside "~/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/roaming/AutoCAD LT 2014 Standalone/R19.1/enu/Support" folder, so if the folder from which it was added is no longer available (as in your case), than AutoCAD cannot load this PAT file from the original path following the information in the symbolic link.

If you want to remove patterns from Hatch library palette, you need to go to the "~/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/roaming/AutoCAD LT 2014 Standalone/R19.1/enu/Support" folder (the Library folder inside Home folder, but not in the root of Mac HDD) and trash all symbolic links to the PAT files.

Be careful not to trash acadltiso.pat and acadlt.pat files!

In a future if she want to add hatch patterns, it is better do load them from the local disk, but not from Network path.

Thank you for your response. When you say 'symbolic links' do you just mean the .PAT files? We deleted them from this folder (see below) but we're still getting the 'Can't find File' error message.

Hi Craig,

Please double check that you trashed all symbolic links, they icons should look like this:

(with small arrow).

You can also check the names of hatch patterns which AutoCAD can not find when you are trying to open hatch library and search this files by it's names on your Mac (be sure to include system files in search criteria.

and there is no "Support" folder, meaning I cannot remove the hatch file. I also want to remove the hatches that the program does not find. How I do that with AutoCad for Mac 2016?

Aliases to hatch patterns added in AutoCAD 2016 are placed here:
~/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/AutoCAD 2016/R20.1/roaming/@en@/Support

You need to go deeper inside 20.1 folder.

I´ve the same problem in autocad 2016, only that there is nothing in the R20.1 folder, except from a AdlmInfo file.

Any sugestion?

Hi Rafael,

You are looking in wrong place.
I referred to the Library folder inside your Home folder, which is hidden by default.
The full path to it is:
"/Users/YOUR_USER_NAME/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/AutoCAD 2016/R20.1/roaming/@en@/Support/Hatch Patterns"

You can open hidden Library folder by using Go menu in Finder with Shift key pressed:
- From the Finder of Mac OS, pull down the “Go” menu and hold down the SHIFT key
- Choose “Library” from the drop down list
