MacBook Pro 2015 Mojave Autocad 2019 poor performance

EDIT: I just read this

"- file system on your Mac is APFS (macOS High Sierra or Mojave) and you are trying to install AutoCAD version incompatible with this file system"

Is 2019 autocad not compatible with APFS ? I will gladly re install mojave on older file system.

Hi,

After unsucesfully getting Autocad to run right ony my Macbook pro,

I did a fresh install of the macbook with the latest mojave, installed autocad 2018 and 2019 + the updates, both of them doesnt run well at all.

I tried

  • In AutoCAD, using the command line, set the following variables to zero:

    DYNMODE
    SELECTIONEFFECT
    PRESELECTIONEFFECT
    LWDISPLAY
    LINESMOOTHING
    PROXYGRAPHICS
    PROXYNOTICE
    PROXYSHOW

and it doesnt help.

Opening up autocad takes minutes, open a file and closing also takes a while, it would give a spinning wheel.

zoom in and out, panning all give me spinning wheel for a good 5 seconds or so.

then typing command, say I want to do a Line, I type "L" then it freezes for like 6 seconds before it allows me to type anything. however, if I turn off the network the loading, typing command all are faster.

Please help, its beyond useable now.

Hi Irwan,

Do you have File Sharing enabled in macOS System Preferences (Sharing pane)
If no- try to enable it and test AutoCAD with Network connected.

Thank you for the reply. File sharing is already off.

Hi Maxim,

Sorry for the late replay, we had major flooding and it was 3 days without electricity since sunday. Now we are on backup generators.

Anyway, I tried turning on the File sharing, it doesnt change the poor performance.

I was using the program for about 2 days and notice that it runs perfectly fine when I have no internet.
I tried it again today, same session since two days ago (the laptop was only put to sleep), with internet connected, it paused for 6 seconds when I enter fisrt letter for a command, however if I just click the "line" button its oke.

This baffles me, as if somethign were running at the background whenever a command is entered.

What kind of internet connection are you using?
Do you use firewall on your Mac?

Hi,

I am using broadband and my ping to google dns server is about 40ms.

I have tried both wifi and ethernet but there is no noticeable difference with the lag.

Firewall is off, I do connect thru my microtik however I dont block any port at all.
