Hi user,
Yes, AutoCAD 2013-2015 will easily crashed on Yosemite with Intel HD 3000 graphics card. And we are working on this issue with Apple.
So I need to know what graphics card you are using for you Macbook pro. Some of the Mac book pro has the second graphics card which is Intel HD 3000.
And we have the workaround for AutoCAD 2015 ONLY now.
You can referenced to the resolution in below post:
Anyway, you can download AutoCAD for Mac 2015 for free 30 days trail:
The Trial download is available at: http://www.autodesk.com/products/autocad/free-trial
For my purposes, and for the most part it works well. However some key issues are going to come up when you work with others who are on a modern PC version.
For example in MAC the types of external images you can out in a drawing are more limited. I cant have .pdfs, or word documents on MAC. My PC based collaborators either have to change how they do things or I have to jump through hoops, convert files, or re type documents to get them in my drawings.
If you make .pdfs they will be much larger than from a PC. This is a problem when emailing.
DWF is a standard that is starting to change to PDF. YOu cant do squat with a dwf.
It is not as stable and seems a little slower on Mac. I had 2012 and a os 10.8 update made it a particular font unusable. It took 24 hours to change the text. Autodesk had already dropped support for 2012 lt on MAC so it won't be fixed. My only solution to keep from doing this on future projects with that client was to purchase 2013 LT. 2013 LT on os 10.9 some time crashes when I move a palette to the other screen., never remembers where I placed my palettes, and occasionally becomes unresponsive (like it froze for 4 minutes but it didn't).
My final and biggest beef is that I can only use one instance of autocad at a time. on a PC if Autocad froze or it was processing prints into pdf. I could just switch to another instance of Autocad and work on a different .dwg. On MAc is autocad is frozen or busy you can't work in another instance of Autocad.
Why do I use autocad for mac? I personally prefer the Mac os to Windows. All my computers are Mac. All my other software runs better on Mac. The only way Autodesk will ever catch up on Mac with PC is if there is a market for it. So I am suffering now so that later I can have good software.
I think the biggest problem is the trend of major updates and replacements of software and OS every year. so every 10 months consumers are in a window of "if I update will EVERYTHING stop working? Will it ever get fixed?" it is a model built on making more money that makes products weaker.
I hear AC 2015 for MAC is much better. However, it still is missing some of the key features that AC 2006 had for PC.
I obviously had somethings on my chest. I feel better now. Sorry for the rant.
