Lines move when I load drawing in Print layout

Hi when I copy several lines onto another drawing/another part of the drawing I found that they shift out of place in print layout, despite being in the right place in the model space. I tried flattening the drawing but this had no difference. Got a deadline on Frid so would be grateful for a response. Thank you!

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi @Anonymous ,

Try to use PLAN command both in Model and inside viewport in Layout to set view direction perpendicular to XY plane of the drawing.

Can you share your drawing here? I can look at it to figure out what;s going wrong.

Thank you very much for your fast response. I tried plan and this made the lines move in the model space too. Perhaps it is because my drawing isn't planar. i will probably spend some time redrawing parts of it if it can't be fixed. Thank you

Yes, your drawing is not planar.
You need to FLATTEN it.
But before using FLATTEN command you have to set view direction perpendicular to drawing YX plane, otherwise the results of FLATTEN command will be unpredictable....

Thanks for your response. Is there a command which makes my drawings planar like 'project osnap' in rhino? Thank you!

In AutoCAD there is OSNAPZ System variable:
http://help.autodesk.com/view/ACDMAC/2021/ENU/?guid=GUID-5A49F08E-C0FD-4B38-9253-BC60197E1A60

You can try to set it to 1, but the problem is that you need to set it to 1 each time you launch AutoCAD, because it is not saved in the drawing or in the global settings.

Thank you so much for your replies. Sorry to bother you again but I was wondering if my drawing is aligned to the wrong axis as my lines keep snapping to 45 degrees. I seem to only have these issues in Mac and never had it in my windows files. Thank you.

I'm sure it is not Mac issue.

Look at your drawing from the front view:
