I am having problems with the layers, I have had the same issue through 18/19 and now version 2020

It is a simple thing but annoying

1) I cannot rename a layer. I click rename and the name is highlighted but unable to change it as if it is locked somewhere. I make sure that the layer is not locked before hand

2) If I create a new layer 5 times out 10 it will just create a layer ( called Layer 1 ) and then I am unable to rename it so its delete and try and again. If you do not immediately start typing it reverts to being called Layer 1 or if Layer 1 is already used it calls it Layer 2 etc but unable to change the name !!

1) where are you doing this? Post a screenshot, let's make sure we are all making the correct assumptions.

2) sounds like you mouse movement is activating another portion of your screen. What's your mouse and MacOS version?
