How to set surface transparency

I drew a table and set the color to white, but in the Layout tab, it is always displayed black.

Is there a way to only show the contour of a surface in AutoCAD?

Attempts:

1.) Select item and set transparency to 90%. Result: no change.

2.) Select item and set colour to white. Result: no change.

I thank you in advance for any good proposals.

Hi Julia,

You cannot see the result of object transparency in Visual Styles other then 2D Wireframe.

Current visual style in your drawing is "Shaded", so you will not be able to see transparency results in it if you simply change transparency of the object in Properties Inspector.

You can set transparency for all 3D objects (its faces) by alerting VSFACEOPACITY system variable. If you set it to 50 - all 3D faces will be transparent. And you cannot set transparency of 3D faces individually.

Transparency property works in AutoCAD efficiently only with 2D objects, such as wide polylines or solid fills (hatches), and only in 2D Wireframe Visual style.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Have you turned ON transparency visibility with a button on the Status Bar?

If you don't see transparency in PDF, then verify that you check-marked "Print transparency" option in Print window or in Page Setup.

Hi, as you always solve my problems using AutoCad, I came back here to ask you about another one.
I have an old Macbook (2012) which I used to work in some archives. I don't know what happened, they all had desconfigured. Now, when I open them in my atual Mac, the lines has changed the colours and many texts with ~ç ´ has changed characters. The lines, which were yellow and red, are all white now. An even if I chose to see them in the colours, they are still white.

Hi Ana,

>>>>when I open them in my atual Mac, the lines has changed the colours and many texts with ~ç ´ has changed characters.

You missed font file and Plot Style table file (CTB or STB) when you migrate to new Mac.

If you still able to use AutoCAD on old machine and have your drawings there, you need to open them and use ETRANSMIT command to create a set of drawings and dependency files into one unit for sharing.

In this case, you can transfer all the necessary files to a new location and the problem will disappear.

And... next time please create a new topic if you ask a new question that is not related to the current topic.

Im sorry to ask in this topic, but I couldn't find where to ask something directly to you..

You have to find font file you used in Text Style and Plot Style table file anywhere, without them you cannot restore original settings.
You can try to recreate Plot Style Table file yourself.

I do have the text style and plot style already saved. Its all in dropbox. Its only one archive which is all in white, but the colors are wrong inside the model, when I plot it is ok, all configured. Even in the plot page, which I configured to be on plot style view, its ok.

The problem is just inside the model, where I work on.

The other archives I did work also in the other computer are ok..

Plot Style you configured inLayout doesn't affect Model.
Don't know really why the colors in Model are wrong....

Can you elaborate?
When you open drawing on your machine the colors in Model are different then when you open the same drawing on another machine. Am I correct?

Can you share one of the drawings with wrong colours?
Please specify an example of wrong color in that drawing - what color you see on your machine and what color is correct (on other machines).

Ok.. I'm sending you two archives, one that is correct and the other, which is the problematic one.

The wrong one is SFA:

- layer 06 should be magenta and its white
- layer o1 should be red and its white
- layer 02 should be yellow and its white

.. and maybe there are more, but this three are the most used in the drawing
Some texts you will see are still with the wrongs characters, like "estœdio" and not "estúdio"

The right archive is GMET

You forgot to include your STB file but... In PAGESETUP command in modelspace and both layouts you forgot you have the DISPLAY PLOT STYLES option selected, so your CASSIA.STB is overriding your screen colors as you have asked the program to do.

Since I do not have your STB, I see all of your layer colors as you describe wanting them/as they are set without the overrides.

It worked.. Ive changed the option display plot style.
I would never imagine that, because I select this option to paper on the plot page.

Thank you very much,
