Help with Creating own templates for project manager layouts

Hi. I hope I can explain this properly.

I am using AutoCAD LT for MAC 2017. So far it is great. I am not very familiar with setting up Sheet Set Templates for use with Project manager.

I have made an 11x17 sheet template similar to the standard ones that come with AutoCAD. I have made attributes for things like project name, drawing number, scale etc. All the attributes are now a block. I did this based on reverse engineering the templates provided by ACAD.

When I set up a new project I select the template I made to use at the standard layout.

The layout comes in fine with the attributes showing their default value. What I can't figure out how to do is to edit the attributes for each sheet.

I thought there is some sort of link between the attributes on the sheet and the fields in the project manager tool palette.

I can't figure out how to edit or update the attributes in the layout such as Sheet Number, Scale, Author etc...

I can see that the fields in the project manager toolbox link to some of the attributes in the title block, but not all of them. How do I add a field to the layout section of the project manager so that when I enter information there it updates in the block? This existing fro Sheet number and project name but nothing else???

Is there a tutorial on line somewhere? I searched forums, youtube etc but no luck.

Best regards,

Grant

Hi @Anonymous,

I just ran across this post. Do you still need help on this setup or have you already got it figured out? Please let me know as I am happy to try and help.

Hi @john.vellek

This one fell off my radar. I had a cad tech helping me for a few months and he looked into setting something up. I have not reviewed his work. He's gone now so I am digging back into this. Although, I don't think I can tackle this right now...deadlines and all.

I was hoping to find a "Layout template set up for Dummies" type of explanation somewhere...to review when I carve off some time.

I can't really find a good tutorial / explanation of Project Manager and the templates. I realize the program comes with some built in but I need to create my own and need to figure out how to make the fields in the title sheet link to the data fields in the ProjMgr toolbar.

Hi @Anonymous,

This is a pretty good article that might get you started.  If you want, when you have time, you can attach a sample Titleblock and preliminary Project Manager set so I can help you map some fields. It is actually pretty easy once you try it a couple of times.

Hi @john.vellek

Thank you very much. I will review the article soon.

I did suspect it is easy once you get the hang of it.

Attached is a file that I/we set up but it was a bit of us both figuring it out. Not sure if it is set up right.

The attachments are the files my cad tech set up. I JUST looked at them now and it looks like what I was thinking it should be but I've not absorbed it yet.

Again, my post was awhile ago so apologies if this is redundant. Take a look if you like.

(I glanced over the pdf and I think I got it)

Cheers,

Grant

Hi Grant

I looked at the PDF and it looks like things are set up correctly.

If you run into any speed bumps or roadblocks using the templates or process, please return and I can take a look.
