Changing Save Preferences

Hello all. I would like to save my files with the date and time they were saved in the file name. Is there an automatic way to do this or do I need to type it in manually? Im using a 2018 student license. Any help is appreciated!

Hi Adam,

It is possible to automate this process with AutoLISP (if you are using full AutoCAD).
I have found the routine from Lee Mac here:
https://www.cadtutor.net/forum/topic/56118-saving-a-file-with-rev-date-and-timestamp/?do=findComment...
Try to use it (I verified it and it works in AC for Mac).
After loading that routine you can use SAV command which will create "superseded" subfolder inside the folder where your current file is located (if this folder doesn't exist), add date and time in YYYYMODD-HHMMSS format to the end of the current file name and save (as copy) currently opened drawing with new name: CURRENT_NAME-YYYYMODD-HHMMSS.dwg
