CAD error messages - what do they mean and how to fix?

Hi there I'm relatively new to CAD and I'm currently learning it as part of an Interior Design course.

I needed to free up disk space on my macbook Air in order to install updates for the 2017 version that were popping up. I cleared some space and installed updates. Big mistake! I now cannot open CAD at all and I keep getting two errors;

Auto CAD Alert

Configuration file may have been locked by another process or have been set Read Only.... It asks mr to correct problem and retry by giving g the file information. No idea HOW to correct problem!

It also gives me this: AutoCAD Error Aborting. Fatal Error: Unable to process Configuration File!

What on earth did i do wrong? How can I recover all my saved files?

I tried installing CAD on my other Mac, thinking I could retrieve files from AutoDesk as I thought they would be saved there....unfortunately didn't work.

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi Sarah,

You need to uninstall AutoCAD with "Remove AutoCAD" application, then install it again using original installer:

http://efulfillment.autodesk.com/NET17SWDLD/2017/ACDMAC/ESD/Autodesk_AutoCAD_2017_Mac_OSX.dmg?authpa...

Then you can install the last Update again.
