Autocad MAC: How to assign F7 Fonction Key to Toggle Ortho Mode On/OFF?

Hi, I'm using autocad 2018 for MAC and here's my problem: The F8 key on my keyboard is dead...I'll have to assign another fonction key (F7 for exemple) to the Ortho Mode On/Off command, or change my whole keyboard.

I've searched everywhere possible on the forum, no answer found. For Windows version autocad it's simple but for MAC version, no such an interface to customize fonction keys!!

PLEASE HELP ME, DON'T WANT TO BUY ANOTHER KEYBOARD FOR ONE F8 KEY ...T_T....

Certainly, ⌘+L works for toggling Ortho ON/OFF but I don't want this two-keys-combined-very-tiring-command.

Hi Jiao,

There is no official way to redefine Accelerator keys (including F-keys) in AutoCAD for Mac. You need to edit AcceleratorRoot.cui inside AutoCAD application folder manually. Plus, there is no way to redefine F7...F10 keys in AutoCAD for Mac even with this method.

Please look at this thread:

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-for-mac-forum/function-keys-in-autocad-for-mac/m-p/8387230

You can find some useful information about reassigning function keys.

So you can reassign for example F1 key in order to use it as ORTHO toggle.

Just in case I attached AcceleratorRoot.cui with F1 key redefined for ORTHO toggle. Don't forget to backup original CUI file before replacing it with customized version.

Thanks you so much this is really helpful! I just changed it to F4 key. F1 next to Esc is a little difficult to use correctly.

I read another post about the "acceleratoroot" file, I found answers to every question I wanted to ask.

Thanks again!
