AutoCAD LT for Mac - line tool not working

Using AutoCAD 2016 for Mac and having an issue drawing a line to scale in feet and inches.  Well actually it won't recognize my entry in the command line AT ALL.  It is acting as if I have NOT set-up the Units, BUT I have!  

What I have done:

-The Units are set to Architectural 

-Set-up the dimension style 

-Selected scale of 1/4"

-Typed in L to draw my line

-entered the dimensions in feet and inches on command line

NOTHING HAPPENS!

Again, it is like the Units are not set-up but they are!!  

I am an experienced AutoCAD user.....20 years of using the product, but this is my first time using it on a Mac.  I have all tracking turned off.....hate that crap.  Is this the issue?  Can I no longer type the dimensions I need in the command line?  Do I have to type it in the tracking area on the drawing now?  Or is this a Mac thing and I am missing something??  

Please Help!!  I have no idea what to do or where to go from here, if I can't even draw a **** line!!!  Thank you in advance!!

You start LINE command, click on the screen for the start point, pull the cursor then typed 12'6 and hit <enter> and it did nothing? or did you get an error mesage? Or was that 12'6 line so small because you are zoomed out so far it was not observed?

To answer your question.....yes it did nothing. Not error message. When you hit enter you can still see the line that is pulled across the screen, in fact it is still active, meaning I can still move it any direction after I hit enter. There is no error message at all.....it is just like it didn't type in a dimension for drawing. It ignores the command completely. I am zoomed in and can see the line in which I am trying to draw. Again, when I hit enter nothing, it ignores my comment so there isn't any line to be seen at any scale. It won't draw the line at all.

Hi,

Please activate command window, expand it with F2 key, start LINE command, type coordinates and hit Return. Now make screenshot and attach it here.

Thank you!  I have done what you asked.  Here is the screen shot, although there is nothing to see, because when I type in the dims of the line, it doesn't even register it in the command line.  As mentioned, it is as if I have not performed the line command at all, not typed in any dims.  The line command remains active until I am forced to hit escape to get out of it.  

Thanks for your help!!  I really don't know what to do!!  But something is wrong.

What if you enable Dynamic Input? (Look for Dynamic Input button on the Status Bar)
Do you have third party keyboard manager on your Mac?
Have you tried to reset AutoCAD?

In addition to other suggestions...
Rotate your UCS: is your line getting drawn in the "z" direction?

I went in the checked the USC and It is correct.  The Z is not showing on the drawing.  Thanks!

I have tried using the dynamic input.  The result is the same.  

I don't have a third party keyboard on the mac.  

I have not reset AutoCAD.....was hoping that was necessary.  

I will say that after some investigation yesterday, I discovered that I am able to draw in a previous office template I have.  So it is something within this blank drawing file that I have created that is the issue.  Although this is helpful information, it still doesn't solve my problem if I need to start with a new, black, dwg file.  Does this help you any???

Hi,

Everything works fine in your drawing, I'm able to draw line 1'6" long with direct input method.
BUT it is practically invisible in the drawing area, because drawing window shows an area 168539'10-5/16" x 99767'11-7/8" units and the line 1'6" length looks like a small point.
You need to zoom in 10000 times to be able to see this line.

In your file those teeny tiny "dots" are all the lines you've been drawing but not seeing, each is 2' or 1'6 long. You have to zoom in that far down to see the line.

Looks to me like you lost how far out you have indeed zoomed. Your drawn red line in 32,387 feet (6+miles) long in your file.

I had the same findings as Dean and Maxim when I opened your drawing file.

If you do not want to reset your settings to default, maybe try logging in as a separate user on your Mac. Open AutoCAD and verify if the problem exists in that environment.

I do not use LT, I am on regular AutoCAD 2018 for Mac

When I type in feet plus inches in the line command, the inches will not work for vertical lines.  Feet works only,

I have changed the units, but still not working for vertical lines.

Hi @hollister2,

Can you elaborate: how do you input feet and inches? What do you type at the command prompt?
Are you using ORTHO mode?
Does this happens in all of your drawings?
