AutoCAD LT for Mac 2015 does not want to save

Hi,

I am unable to save to a specific folder on our server. Do you have any suggestions of what to check. I can successfully save PDFs using Adobe Reader and other files onto the server location but not any DWGs via AutoCAD.

Any ideas?

Many thanks

Charl

Hi Carl,

I believe it is permissions issue which AutoCAD cannot resolve. Try to consult with your IT specialist.

Hi,

Thank you for the suggestion.

However if Adobe Reader can resolve the permission issues then is AutoCAD not the problem? Can't Autodesk program in whatever they need to for this to work - like Adobe did?

What do you think?

Regards

Charl

Hi Charl,

What kind of alert do you see from AutoCAD when you are trying to save DWG to the specific folder on your server?
Are you able to save drawings from AutoCAD to another folder on the server?
What happens if you copy DWG to this specific folder in Finder and than open it in AutoCAD? Is the file marked as "read only"?

When you edit drawing in AutoCAD it creates some additional temporary files in the working folder, but Adobe Reader - not.

Hi,

Thank you for the info.

It seems that  we're not trying to save to a server but just to a specific set of folders on the same machine.

I do not get any errors messages.

This is what happens inside ACAD LT 2015 for Mac sp3 :

- I click file save as

- then the save drawing as box pop’s up.

- Then i rename the drawing

- Then the save drawing as box’s fades away for 2 seconds then re-appears with the original file name and the renamed file has not been saved to desired location.

- If i rename the file and save it to the desktop then it works 100%

- the desktop is the only file location i can save to.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Charl

Hi Carl,

What if you don't change the default "Drawing X" name? Can you save to other than Desktop folder?
I have no idea other than permissions problems with this set of specific folders.

Hi,

I have done numerous test’s now and the issue only seems to be with the one project i am working on. (All the other projects save to the correct locations)

I can only think that projects folder arrangement must have got corrupted somehow.

For this specific project i have to first save to desktop and then move it into the folder later.

Anyway thank you all for the help.

Regards

Charl
