Constant crashing since using the 2017 version. Unbearable and proving impossible to work effectively. Waiting for an update to fix bug! Anyone else experiencing the same?

Hi @aandreas16,

Some customers reported this issue when running on Yosemite.  The general recommendation is to go to the Apple store to check for OS updates. It appears that you might already have the latest updates for your OS.

Can you please confirm that your Mac also meets the system requirements?

Will you also please try creating a new user account on your Mac and logon with it to see if AutoCAD performs differently?

@aandreas16

If you could please try and update your OS and apply all updates to AutoCAD LT 2017.

Post back if you have any other questions.

Thanks.

I've updated my OS. From what I can see my AutoCAD software is fully up to date too.

System requirements are attached. I am hoping the OS update has done the trick. I'll keep you posted as to whether it was the correct solution.

Thanks

Hi @aandreas16,

Did you check for all the updates for your AutoCAD LT? If so, do you find things to be more stable?

I am running Sierra 10.12.2 on a new Macbook pro 15" w/ touchbar.   Audocad for mac 1017 crashes every time I close a drawing wether I changed it and saved or not.

I just purchased a license for AutoCad LT for Mac over the weekend.   It is so unstable, that it is NOT usable.   I have the latest update for OX Yosemite and I am running on a MacBookPro ver 11,5.

I have entered a support ticket with AutoDesk and will share what happens.   I have been using AutoCad LT for Mac 2012 on this same system for several years with no problems.   Hearing that I am not alone is comforting, but makes one wonder about this particular release.

Comments are appreciated.

I am currently running Autocad 2017 LT for Mac on a late 2013 MacPro (OS X Yosemite, 10.10.5 3.5 GHz 6-core/16GB RAM/AMD FirePro D700) and for whatever the case may be it constantly crashes.

Work does not entail any 3D modeling or intense graphics demands on the system.  Is seems as time goes on working/drafting the crashing occurrences increase.  To the point that it is non productive time spent on client's dime/meeting contractual obligations.

I did see a couple of weeks ago a Hotfix 1 was issued.  Unfortunately it too had the same outcome -  the constant crashing of the application.

Are there similar experience with the non "LT" versions from Autodesk?

Any suggestions from technical staff or other dedicated individuals?

Hi @Anonymous,

There are known issues with AutoCAD for Mac 2017 on this version of Yosemite. I suggest that you look for OS updates from Apple or consider moving to a newer version of your OS.

Thank you for your response.   I have completed the upgrade on my OS system and Autocad is now running smoothly.

I am now a happy camper.

Thanks John,

In my search for answers and reviewing outcomes of suggested steps to resolve the "crashing" issues I "was" experiencing,  I found myself updating the OS to the latest version.  I did install the "Hotfix 1" prior to upgrading to Sierra but it did not resolve the issue.

Conclusion - simply upgrade your OS if you are planning to use the application = it works (+8 hours and no crashes)

I would do a little homework and confirm that your current applications will function as intended with the update. Often too many users follow direction without specific consideration to their own needs.

regards,

Hi @Anonymous,

Unfortunately, OS incremental updates are out of my hands so a fix that works at one point in time will not work for all users.

I am glad that your update fixed the problem for you.

Thanks for contribution!
