AutoCAD Lt 2015 for Mac with OS X Yosemite CRASH!!!

I'm running autocad lt 2015 on Yosemite on a 2013 imac with 32Gb of RAM. I've had it for just over a month and it's started to crash every time I try to insert a block. I get the rotating circle of doom as I begin to search for the block I want to use.  It happens on different drawings and before I can click on the block I want, so it's not related to particular drawings or files.  I've reloaded autocad and I don't know why it's only recently stated to crash.  As blocks are a key element of my drawings this is a fundemental issue for me.

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!
Hi,
If you are trying to insert blocks from disk, than be sure to switch to list or icon view in Open file dialog. That is known problem with Yosemite OS.

Hi,
I’m trying to insert blocks from the hard drive, all my files are on the same drive. I click on Browse which opens up the Select Drawing File box, which is in list format, and then the wheel of death appears. Since my post earlier, I’ve left it rotating just to see if anything happens and it actually clears, eventually. I don’t know why it has decided to start doing this after a month or so of relatively trouble-free use, and it’s going to be a real pain if I have to wait several minutes every time I want to insert a block.

Strange sing...
Actually I mean this:

BTW, just tried column view with AC 2015 on 10.10.2 and have not got a crash.

Have you tried to reset AutoCAD?
What if you insert block via Content palette? (You can add the whole drawing to Content palette library)

I’ve tried as a list view and reset Autocad but the result is the same, it crashes.

I’ve also lost the ability to measure, either a distance or an area. I select the tool, click on first and then second points and it asks me to chose distance, angle etc and then click on the first point before closing distance, angle etc. Both these issues started at the same time a couple of days ago.

How do I load via the content palette? This won't cure the problem, though, it's just a work-around.

I reloaded Autocad and it worked fine for an hour or so before both these problems began again. All the software is up to date and I'm not short of RAM or hard disk space. Totally flumoxed.

Having gone back through my update history, the Autocad problems began soon after Yosemite 10.10.2 was installed. Coincidence????

Here are some words about Content palette:

Regarding to the measuring: which command do you use? Is it MEASUREGEOM, than it works in such a way:
- you call the command, than you need to select an option (Distance, Radius, Angle, Area, or Volume), than make measurement with this option.
- if you need to exit command, than you need to use X option after first measurement:

Command: MEASUREGEOM
Enter an option [Distance/Radius/Angle/ARea/Volume] <Distance>:
Specify first point:
Specify second point or [Multiple points]:
Distance = 679.4494, Angle in XY Plane = 270, Angle from XY Plane = 0
Delta X = 0.0000, Delta Y = -679.4494, Delta Z = 0.0000
Enter an option [Distance/Radius/Angle/ARea/Volume/eXit] <Distance>: X
Command:

You can also try to use DIST and AREA commands.

Regarding the problem with hang whe you use "Select File" dialog during INSERT command - I don't have any ideas for now. Am I correct: after restarting AutoCAD the problem goes away for some period of time?

I use the measure icon. Using the DIST and AREA commands, when I've selected the second/final point, there is no distane or area, the cursor acts as though the command is complete. MEASUREGEOM gives the same result as using the icon and asks for what type of measurement after I've selected the second point.

The issue of selecting a block to insert went away a couple of times after hanging for aseveral minutes when trying to select the folder containing the block, but now it freezes the screen and I have to force quit before I can use any other program, even those that are open and on screen.

These two problems have only begun since the system upgraded to 10.10.2, it was fine up till that point.  In order to work on a drawing I have to use an older machine running Autocan 2011 on 10.6.8.  Not the ideal solution and, until I can find a solution to this problem, a complete waste of money upgrading to 2015.
