AutoCAD for Mac display fonts?

Hello there,

For some reason my CAD for mac has crazy system fonts selected. Very cursivey, curly and way to hard to read. Any idea how to change this? I can't find it in t he preferences.

Thanks,
Lorne

Hi Lorne,

When you run the STYLE command, try changing the default font there.

Hi Lorne,

Did you mean UI fonts? (not fonts for text styles)

If so, I know that by default AutoCAD uses "Lucida Grande" font family for UI elements (Command window, Palettes etc.)

So at first - check your "Lucida Grande" font in Fontbook, if it is OK, I think you should try suggestion

"2011: Palettes and palette icons are not visible when AutoCAD for Mac is launched" from Knowledge Base. It is related to icons, but copyreg.sh script also replaces Themes.xml (which contains information about UI fonts for AutoCAD).

Hello,

Thanks for the help.  However, that didn't work.  I took a look into Fontbook and found Lucida Grande, and it is not cursive or swirly in anyway.  I then ran the terminal commands as in the other post you shared, and still nothing.

It's the weirdest thing.  I have posted a screenshot for you to see it.  Take a look at the command I typed next to the cursor: "STYLE" is typed.  Also the layers drop down.  I can't even read it.

Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Lorne

Hi Lorne,

It looks like something wrong with fonts in your system.

My suggestions:

 1. Start with FontBook, try to disable fonts that have a typeface similar to the one you see in AutoCAD (scripting).

 2. If this fails, then you can install the free program Onyx, and with the help of it try to clear system and user fonts cache:

Maxim,

Thanks for your help.  However I did go through Fontbook and disabled every single cursive font, then restarted AutoCAD.  Didn't work.

I then did your OnyX suggestion...Didin't work.  I kept the fonts disabled when I did this.

Any other ideas?  I can't use AutoCAD without being able to read the commands I input!

Thanks,

Lorne

Hi Lorne,

Definitely I have no idea!

The only one - try to replace file "Themes.xml" in ~/.config/Autodesk/AutoCAD/1.0/

1730iE772409449062683

with the file that is in the attachment.

Keep in mind the following:

1. Folder ".config" in your Home folder is hidden, so you have to enable Finder to show hidden files (if you have not done it already), you can do it in Onyx (Parameters section -> Finder tab -> Show hidden and folders)

2. Exit AutoCAD, if it is running.

3. Make backup copy of your existing Themes.xml file.

4. Replace it with file in attachment.

5. Start AutoCAD

In my system it looks now:

YESSSSS!!!!!! I finally got it to work!  The fonts are working now 🙂  Thank so much.  Sorry it took so long for me to try it.  Been real busy.

Thanks for all your help 🙂

Lorne
