Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi Colin,

No one can say about the exact date of the release of the new release.
Meanwhile, you can participate in the beta testing of the new release:

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-for-mac-forum/autocad-for-mac-pyramid-beta-1-has-been-release...

I have not tried 2017 version, but 2018 seems has no critical issues under Mojave Public Beta 10.

Hi @colinwgrant,

I am now able to download and install the public release of macOS Mojave.  I am aware of two issues related to Mojave with AutoCAD and they are OS issues.

The first is related to a file read-only message when trying to open a file from Gallery view of Column view within Finder or from the Select file dialog within AutoCAD. The work around is to change to list or icon view in finder or the Select file dialog.

The second known issue is that a message may appear that indicates that AutoCAD would like access to your contacts/calendar on macOS Mojave. The workaround is to click either Don't allow or OK as both selections will work because AutoCAD is NOT actually trying to gain access. This is an OS message that does not apply.

It might be useful to make users aware that (in my experience) there appear to be issues with AutoCad LT Mac installers when using Mac OS 10.14 Mojave Beta and final release versions. During the beta process I found that AutoCAD LT 2018 worked fine if a running installation of AutoCAD on MacOS High Sierra was upgraded to Mojave.

However if a clean installation of Mojave is performed (as I conducted after the official release of Mojave yesterday)  the AutoCAD LT Mac 2018 installer crashes on launch and cannot be installed. As a workaround I have had to install AutoCAD LT Mac 2017 installer which does work however the subsequent updates to the original shipping version of 2017 cannot be installed as they also crash on launch under Mojave.

Based on my experience any users running AutoCAD 2018 Mac on High Sierra can upgrade their systems to Mojave as an upgrade installation however a clean install of Mojave cannot be undertaken as this results in crashes of the Autocad LT Mac 2018 installers when attempting to install the software after installing Mojave.

Hi @Anonymous,

The installation failure is fixed in the newly released 2018.2 version. The 2018.2 version has a full AutoCAD install, so you can just use that to install AutoCAD on a clean Mojave.

The following posts has more info about this version.

Thanks,

Wei

Many thanks for the prompt response. I have downloaded the relevant AutoCad LT Mac 2018.2 Full Installer and successfully installed the product on a clean installation of Mojave.

I've been wondering if an update for Mojave would be released soon, but based on experience did not expect for 2-3 months. I have ACAD LT 2018.1 for MAC and "check for updates" shows I'm up to date. Why doesn't the update show? Because I'm still on 10.13.6 macOS Higher Sierra? Should I install 2018.2 update first (full or patch) from download links or upgrade to Mojave first and then install full 2018.2 version?

I have 2017 CAD and Mojave and have no problems.

I always update CAD before updating OS and check that the CAD is fully working
and I have a spare Computer for testing if all ok I update

Hi Darryl,

Please check updates once again.
It should show for now, I tested even on Sierra.

Plus, you can download and install it manually from here:

Which one do I install for ACAD LT 2018.1 on macOS 10.13.6 High Sierra? Does the full version replace app?

If you already have AutoCAD 2018 installed on Mojave, you can choose to install the patch:

LT: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad-lt-for-mac/downloads/caas/downloads/content/autocad-l...

If you need to fully install/re-install AutoCAD 2018 on Mojave, please choose the 2018.2 full version:

I updated to Mojave and now I'm having the read-only files problem when trying to access our server. Does someone have a solution for this? It is happening with both 2017 and 2018 version, both are in their latest updates.

Hi @Anonymous,

This will not happen if you change your Finder view to list view.  Give that a try. It appears that when the system tries to show a preview it has some sort of lock on the file in Mojave.

Here is an article that describes this behavior.

Hello Wei Ma

I am on Apple's Mac OSX beta program and often I get an upgrade to the OSX from Apple.

Every time I upgrade the OSX I need to reinstall AutoCad. This is very annoying.

Are there any ways to come around this? Not installing the latest OSX is not one of them, as I have to test other software continuously on OSX whenever upgrades are release to beta program members.

Kind regards,

Bo Heegaard
